One of the architectural monuments in Sweden Oresund Bridge (locally called Øresundsbron). It is a bridge that connects Amager and Oresund in Denmark (on the island Zealand) with Skane, Sweden, for a total length of just over 10 miles (16.4 km). This is the road link between the metropolitan areas of Copenhagen and Malmo.
It is a perfect way for travelers who want a fast connection between Sweden and Denmark without flying. It should be noted that the Oresund Bridge now carries over 60,000 passengers a day - including both local and visiting travelers. The Oresund Bridge offers a 4-lane road carrying 6 million vehicles a year, and two railroad tracks (another 8 million people each year.)
When they built the Oresund Bridge in 1991, the governments of Denmark and Sweden agreed to build this great project, and although it took a while to build this monster bridge, Oresund Bridge was officially opened on July 1, 2000.
Construction of the Oresund bridge included the construction of a bridge, a tunnel (2.5-mile / 4 km) and a new island, where travelers will tunnel level (in the Danish side) at the level of the bridge.
The western part of the Oresund Link tunnel is 4 km long artificial island between Peberholm and artificial peninsula at Kastrup. The tunnel is the longest immersed tube tunnel for road and rail traffic in the world. It consists of 20 elements of the tunnel.
